More and more people are becoming independent of fixed accommodation
and discovering camping for themselves. Many even buy their own mobile home and set about designing their mobile home individually and functionally. Inevitably, the question arises of how best to use the limited storage space: Where do you put the coffee machine? Where do you put glasses? Where do you cut vegetables when there is hardly any space next to a small table and a mini kitchenette?

More storage and work space in no time at all

Camperboards, a young company from Burscheid near Cologne, is now setting out to solve the problem of scarce storage space. The idea: high-quality storage boards that can be mounted on the rear seat bench instead of the headrests in just a few simple steps. Headrest out, storage board in - done. The headrests are just as easy to reinstall when the journey continues.

The Camperboards range already has a suitable solution for more than 25 common motorhomes for the official sales launch at the beginning of 2022. To ensure that the boards perfectly match the original design of the vehicle, they are available in two to three colour variants each, some with stainless steel and chrome railings. Camperboards also offers high-quality sink covers in 13 different shapes and two versions each, each made of three-layer bamboo wood and, like the storage boards, handmade in Germany. According to Camperboards, the storage board and sink cover together provide up to 40 percent more storage and working space.

Assortment grows continuously

"We are constantly expanding our range," explains company founder Wolfgang Helldörfer. "Our goal is to have an ideal board and sink cover up our sleeve for all popular models as soon as possible." Helldörfer himself has been an enthusiastic camper for many years. He has travelled all over Europe in a wide variety of caravans and motorhomes and found out every time: There could be more storage space.

The brilliant idea came to Helldörfer last year: at that time, the car mechanic was still employed as a buyer at a large automotive supplier, specialising in headrests and centre armrests. So the idea of using the existing guide of the headrests as a holder for a storage board was obvious. In the hobby cellar at home, a prototype was created for his own motorhome: with a glossy white surface, aluminium-look edging and stainless steel brackets and end caps. The tinkerer received enthusiastic feedback from friends and the camper community: "Obviously there is a need for high-quality, design-oriented storage boards - but until now there was no corresponding offer. So I decided to quit my day job and produce my boards in series.

Storage surface "made in Germany

As a sideline, Helldörfer set the course for Camperboards: In a local carpenter, he found a production partner who shared his high standards of quality and low manufacturing tolerances. He measured a large number of camping vehicles to build up the range - after all, each board has to be matched to the backrest of the camper van. And while he was at it, he built up a range for sink covers in parallel and sold the first boards to customers in Germany, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands via his new web shop.

From campers for campers: customer proximity is a top priority

Each board and sink cover is made immediately after the order and delivered within two weeks. A storage board for Adria SL models, for example, is available from 219 euros. Individual advice is always included, as is mutual exchange. Helldörfer: "Our slogan is not for nothing 'From campers for campers'
