FAQ - frequently asked questions about the Clesana retrofit
What is a Clesana toilet?
A Clesana toilet is an innovative, dry-separating toilet that is used particularly in motorhomes to enable environmentally friendly disposal of solids and liquids without the need for chemical additives or a water connection. Thanks to its compact design and ease of use, it offers a practical solution for travelers who value comfort and sustainability.
How much does it cost to install a Clesana toilet?
Installation starts at €2,490 for Camperboards including Clesana and power management. However, the price varies depending on the vehicle type. Additional costs may arise if the Clesana installation requires individual furniture adaptations. Production takes place at the same time as installation, as we have our own in-house carpentry workshop.
Please get in touch with us via our contact form and we can provide you with an exact quote based on your vehicle.
What is Clesana Power Management?
The Clesana power management system combines the functions of a relay and DC/DC charger for greater self-sufficiency. It is connected to a backup battery that releases the power flow when the toilet is in use. If the Clesana is in standby mode, the backup battery is charged with 2A charging current via the power management. It is controlled via a 12V continuous plus cable. Even if the on-board battery fails, the Clesana C1 can still be operated via the backup battery. The power management can be installed by us, including all connections, and we have had our carpenter Thorsten trained and qualified for this.
How does a waterless toilet work?
Toilet waste is automatically sealed in high-barrier film liners at the touch of a button and can therefore be stored absolutely odorless and germ-free for long periods of time.
Preparation: If necessary, add super absorber before the "Rinse cycle". Rinse cycle:
1. Start the "Rinse cycle" by pressing the button (either "large" or "small").
2. excretions and waste are automatically sealed in foil bags and collected in the drawer.
3. the system automatically lines the toilet compartment (bowl) with new foil for the next use. Emptying/disposal:
4. Fill level indicator on the control panel automatically shows when the drawer needs to be emptied at the latest.
5. pull out the drawer to empty, the toilet bags are disposed of with household or residual waste.
How tight are the bags?
The high-barrier film specially developed for the medical sector offers outstanding protection against odor and moisture permeability. It ensures safety for days and weeks and enables simple, hygienic disposal.
A test has shown that the Clesana bags are designed in such a way that they retain their tightness even under pressure. Even when severely perforated with sharp objects, such as a cutter knife or screwdriver, only a small amount of the absorbent leaks out. The high-barrier film liners also do not tear further, but remain stable.
